Proceans AISI 316 stainless wire is made from marine grade stainless steel and is highly tea-stain resistant.
The stainless wire is covered with a UV and rot/abrasion resistant white nylon giving excellent life in the tough marine environment.
It also has a soft, smooth touch. Do not use bleach or solvents to clean the nylon coating. It is best cleaned with a mild detergent and a cloth and washed off with fresh water.
Note: Always remove the nylon coating before inserting into a terminal or swaging.
A wire made of seven strands of seven wires (7x7) is favoured where some flexibility is required for example in nylon coated lifelines connected to terminals.
A wire made of seven strands of nineteen wires (7x19) is favoured for halyards and running rigging where thimbles and ferules are swaged in a loop rather than crimped into terminals.
A strand of cable made of 19 wires is called 1x19. This is built up around a single central strand which is straight and has six strands tightly twisting in one direction. Then twisting, in the other direction, are a dozen outer strands.
1 x 19 stainless steel is high strength and is resistant to stretch.
1 x 19 is not recommended being bent around eyes or thimbles, so is best fitted into a terminal or screw terminal.
