CHOOSING THE CORRECT ANCHOR RODE

Advice on how to select the correct anchor line and chain rode for your boat.
Whitsunday Discount Marine recommends 3 strand nylon rope for anchor line due to its stretch and strength. Silver or polypropylene rope is not recommended.
Nylon 3 Strand:
3mm of rope diameter per 2.75 metres (9 feet) of boat length
Polyester 3 strand:
4mm of rope diameter per 2.75 metres (9 feet) of boat length
Silver 3 strand:
5mm of rope diameter per 2.75 metres (9 feet) of boat length
Chain length = boat length (preferable)
Chain diameter:
8mm anchor line: 6mm
10mm anchor line: 8mm
12mm anchor line: 8mm
16mm anchor line: 10mm
