WHY PURCHASE an ALUMINIUM RIB
Why purchase an Aluminium RIB (rigid inflatable boat)
in preference to a fibreglass/aluminium boat?
Aluminium RIB’s have significant and substantiated advantages over traditional vessels. These are:
LIGHTWEIGHT, MORE STABLE and EASIER TO MANEUVER:
RIBs are very lightweight because of their inflatable sides and marine grade 4mm aluminium hull construction. This increases fuel efficiency and people and gear carrying capacity.
The hard-hull V shaped hull, inflatable-collar combination gives RIBs their superior stability compared to traditional boats giving excellent tracking, tight turns and extremely responsive, even at slow speed manoeuvring. The buoyancy of the tubes makes them virtually unsinkable and very stable at rest or underway, even at speed.
FASTER - FUEL EFFICIENT:
Aluminium RIB’s require less horsepower than traditional vessels to reach similar speeds and almost instantaneously start to plane. Low power to weight ratio.
They are more fuel-efficient than other types of vessels. It takes less power to get the RIB onto the plane faster and with less energy to keep it there, decreasing fuel flow and increasing range.
Aluminium RIB’s are versatile and can be used both commercially and for leisure.
They are used by our ADF, Police, Fisheries, Customs and Charter Operators due to their endurance, stability and smooth ride in all weather conditions.
Aluminium RIB’s are increasingly popular amongst leisure boaters due to their versatility and wide range of benefits. Perfect for water sports, fishing snorkelling and diving. They are designed to give passengers a safe and comfortable ride.
EASIER TO TOW, LAUNCH & RETRIEVE, BEACH AND MOOR:
Aluminium RIB’s are lighter than traditional craft and can be towed by a sedan or SUV. Launching and retrieval by drive off/drive on can be achieved by one person.
The shallow draught of Aluminium RIB’s are ideal for low/middle tide launching and retrieval.
Towing an aluminium RIB has little discernible difference in fuel consumption compared to normal driving.
Aluminium RIB’s can be safely moored at a jetty or finger without damage due to the fending characteristics of the tubes.
Safety is always the priority when boating. Aluminium RIBs have increased safety due to the inflatable tubes surrounding the rigid hull.
The inflatable tubes protect the vessel, its passengers and other craft in the event of an impact.
Aluminium RIB’s are virtually unsinkable. The inflatable tubes keep the vessel upright, even when taking on water with the similar effect of a lifejacket.
MORE COMFORTABLE and DRIER RIDE:
The aluminium hull and inflatable tubes provide excellent shock absorption compared to other boats. The wide beam is more comfortable at rest when drifting or moored and is highly stable at speed.
Aluminium RIB’s which in the majority are open are far drier than alternative craft due to the spray limiting of the combination of the inflatable tubes and moulded protection strip. This combination deflects spray downwards ensuring a drier ride. The self-draining cockpits during planning keep any water off the deck.
Aluminium RIB’s are acknowledged as being lower maintenance than traditional craft. They can be maintained by washing and regularly coating with a UV protectant. There is no requirement to polish, buff or paint the hull.
